24. Differentiate between natural and cultural heritage.

Natural Heritage:

  • In any country or state, all the nature-gifted things are considered as parts of natural heritage. Natural heritage includes things like, rivers, hills, mountains, seas, streams, lakes, fields, wild areas, wild animals, vegetation, deserts, etc.
  • As a whole, natural heritage is the gift of nature through the different geological cycle of evolution.
  • e.g. the river Ganges, Thar desert, the Himalayas, etc.
Cultural Heritage:

  • During the passing of human civilisation, those arts and culture which were parts of the earlier phase of civilisation, still existing today are also called the parts of cultural heritage, e.g. dance, music, idol art, literature, social and religious rules and rituals, etc.
  • Cultural heritage is associated with the man-made things and the things which were found during the different phases of human civilisation.
  • e.g. The Tajmahal, the Lal Qila, Kathak dance, Bhagavat Geeta, etc.
