List the classical dance forms of India as per the Sangeet Natak Akademi.

 The Sangeet Natak Akademi currently conferred classical status on eight Indian dance forms. But Ministry of culture, Government form of India recognised Chhau also a classical dance form along-with Nritya.

The classical dance forms of India are:

  • Bharatnatyam -  Classical dance form of Tami Nadu
  • Odissa -  Classical dance form of Odisha
  • Kuchipudi - Telugu classical dance form of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
  • Mohiniyattam -  Classical dance form of Kerala
  • Sattriya - Assamese classical dance form
  • Kathakali - Malayalam classical dance form
  • Kathak - Classical dance form of North India
  • Manipuri - Classical dance form of Manipur
  • Chhau - Classical dance form of Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand
  • Gaudiya Nritya - Classical dance form of Bengal
  • Koodiyattam - A form of Sanskrit theatre traditionally performed in the state of Kerala.

 It is officially recognised by UNESCO as a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity.
