Bhagwati Sutra :
          Vyakhyaprajnapati is commonly known as Bhagwati Sutra. It is an important book of Jaina literature. It contains details about Questions answered by Mahavira.

Gangaikonda Cholapuram:
          Gangaikonda Cholapuram is an early, Medieval Age town on the banks of the river Cauvery, built by Rajendra Chola I to
commemorate his victory over Bengal powers.

Nizamuddin Auliya:
         He was the most important Sufi saint of Chisti Silsila who practised yoga and came to be venerated as `Sidh'. His durgah was situated in Delhi.

Raidas :
        He was a humble disciple of Ramananda, who was a cobbler by origin. He was an important saint of the Bhakti Movement of Medieval Age.

Tavernier :
        He was a French traveller during Shahjahan's period who visited India six times during Mughal period.
Upanishads It is also known as 'Vedanta'. They are 108 in number and deal mainly with philosophical topics.

Vajrayana :
        A sect of Buddhism which gained prominence from 8th century onwards. It emphasised on attainment of magical powers.

Kumarasambhava:
          It is an epic iniSanskrit which tells us about the birth of Kartikeya. It was written by Kalidasa.

Razmnama :
           It is the translation of the epic 'Mahabharata' in Persian language which was done by various scholars during Akbar's reign.

Mirza Haider :
         He ruled Kashmir in 16th century. He was a relative of Babur.

Jadong :
       A freedom fighter from Nagaland, he led the Naga tribes against British.

Jadunath Sarkar :
         He was a prominent historian of Medieval India, known for his work on Maratha biased views on Aurangzeb.

Nazir Hussain :
        This Muslim religious reformer founded Ahl-i-Hadith movement. He was raised as a Shiite, but later abandoned that faith.

Arthashastra Presumably, written by Vishnugupta or Chanakya during the Maurya era, Arthashastra is a treatise on statecraft. It focuses on politics, administration, society and economy of the ancient India around 2nd century BC.
Sarnath Pillar It was built by Ashoka in the honour of Lord Buddha with 4 lions sitting back to back on the top of a platform in which a deer, bullock, horse and rhinoceros are carved on along a wheel. The national emblem of India is taken out of it.

Mahayana Cult :
           It is a Buddhist cult which believes in salvation for all. It adopted idol worship of Buddha and used Sanskrit as its language.
Anand Math A novel written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee on the Sanyasi revolt in Bengal. Vande Mataram' was taken out from this book to become the national song.

Aryabhatta :
          Most renowned astronomer and mathematician of ancient India who belonged to the Gupta Age on astronomy and Aryabhattiyam' on mathematics. He was the first astronomer in the world to declare that the earth is revolving round the sun.

Banabhatta :
          He was the court poet of Harshavardhana. He wrote 'ICadambinr, a poetic treatise and 'Harshacharita', the biography of his patron.
